1 Research Background
At the beginning of the 20th century, Dewey put forward the theory of critical thinking. He believed that critical thinking was reflective thinking, a way of thinking based on facts, a way of looking at problems through dialectical thinking and solving problems in life. The use of critical thinking can effectively help students search for more comprehensive information, put forward their own views and express their opinions on the premise of respecting others. In the 21st century, the competition of all countries in the world is the competition of comprehensive national strength, in the final analysis, it is creative talents’competition. Creativity and criticism play an important role in the development of science and technology, economic growth and social progress. Nowadays, it is difficult to innovate without critical thinking, and innovation is the soul of a nation's progress. The key to the cultivation of creativity lies in the cultivation of students' critical thinking ability. Without criticism, there is no innovation. Meanwhile, reading ability is one of the important purpose of learning English.
In the process of reading, readers need to have critical reading awareness. After receiving, analyzing,distinguishing, evaluating and reconstructing information, critical reading ability will be gradually formed.The outline of national medium and long term education reform and development plan (2010-2020) pointed out that training students' ability was a strategic education development task. Teaching design activities should be instrumental in promoting the development of students' thinking ability. Since 2007, senior University English new curriculum reform had been carried out, and great achievements had been made during this period. With the concept of core literacy raised, cultivating students' critical thinking ability had become one of the education reform goals recently. The English curriculum standard for full-time compulsory education also clearly proposed to cultivate students' ability to analyze and solve problems in English and their ability to think critically. Therefore, English teaching designed by teachers should be conducive to the development of students' thinking ability
 Characteristics Of Critical Thinking
Critical thinking is the thinking of thinking, reflecting on the subjective world of others and oneself. Its purpose is to make our thinking clearer, so that we can understand ourselves and the world more objectively, and thus better transform ourselves and the world. Compared with other cognitive activities, it has the following characteristics:
(1) Clarity: Clarity means thinking about a problem in a hierarchical way. For the same problem, thinking on different levels will lead to completely different conclusions; At the same time, clarity means thinking in an organized way and using concepts and language clearly and accurately.
(2) Relevance: Relevance means to think about the problem at hand, solve one problem at a time, only collect information related to the problem, only look for solutions to the problem, do not involve irrelevant questions, do not make irrelevant answers: Relevance also means that when thinking and solving problems, we should use logical reasoning instead of emotional psychology, and carry out practical analysis and reasoning on problems to get rid of emotional entanglements.
(3) Consistency: Consistency means to avoid self-contradiction, and one of the self-contradictory views and propositions must be invalid. Consistent beliefs enable people to make the right decisions and find the right solutions to problems, so be consistent in your beliefs and actions when it comes to critical thinking.
(4) Legitimacy: Legitimacy means that we should not rely on our own experience and intuition, but find out real and credible and powerful evidence for our views and opinions, so as to ensure the credibility of our views and opinions and eliminate unreliable beliefs.
(5) Foresight: People's beliefs are practical and can help people better understand and explain the world around them, instead of seeking the causes of things based on the surface characteristics of things: reasonable explanations of things should be used to guide people's actions, so that people can make clear what to do, how to do, when to do, and then make reasonable decisions.
(6) Autonomy. Critical thinking is positive, independent thinking. The critical thinker is not a passive waiting person, but an active thinker: not a conformist and suggidable person, but an independent thinker and a non-conformist.
(7) Justice and tolerance. Critical thinking is not the thinking that has personal feelings, negates others and belittles others, but the thinking that treats others fairly and is tolerant and respectful of others.
